The grading rubric below explains the categories for grading. It is important that you understand the interconnectedness of the course -the explanations of the grading below are aimed to help you understand this more fully.

Attendance & Participation25%Participation in this course includes critique and peer-to-peer sharing. Critiquing in art differs significantly from other subjects, but you will be guided into that process. You cannot engage in participation if you are not present. This course includes no homework, which amplifies the importance of your attendance. You must attend all class sessions to make good progress in learning in this subject.
Engagement & Classwork35%Classwork is assigned for over half of the semester. You will use differing materials with those exercises to gain experience and be informed enough to make choices for your project confidently. That project will be made with your chosen drawing materials and developed through conscious, intentional choices.
Final Portfolio Project40%Classwork is assigned for over half of the semester. You will use differing materials with those exercises to gain experience and be informed enough to make choices for your project confidently. That project will be made with your chosen drawing materials and developed through conscious, intentional choices. The level of engagement you have in the class exercises, with the materials, and with the participation aspects such as critique are all important in your own development this semester.
